Modern Meets Restored 17th Century Wedding Atmosphere
Amy and Ellie’s Wedding Reception
Located in the heart of Scituate, Massachusetts, The Barker House is a beautifully preserved historic venue offering couples a wedding setting defined by timeless New England charm, refined architectural detail, and an intimate, welcoming atmosphere. While situated in a classic coastal town, the property itself feels tucked away and serene, creating a peaceful environment ideal for heartfelt ceremonies and elegant celebrations. Its stately interior spaces and manicured grounds provide a sophisticated backdrop that photographs beautifully in every season. It was the perfect location for Amy and Ellie’s wedding reception!
As a wedding photographer, I’m drawn to venues like The Barker House because of their character, natural light, and authentic sense of place. The combination of historic textures, warm interior tones, and thoughtfully designed outdoor spaces allows for a wide range of emotional, story-driven imagery without distraction. Whether you’re planning a romantic garden ceremony, an intimate reception, or a refined historic celebration, The Barker House offers a setting that feels personal, graceful, and unmistakably New England.
Getting Ready and First Look
The Barker House features a number of rooms upstairs that can be used for getting ready. These spaces are well lit and have plenty of room. While they can be used for a first look, we opted to head downstairs to one of the bar areas to find ourselves a nice quiet corner for Amy and Ellie’s first look.
A Beautiful Fireplace for Beautiful Wedding Photos
One of the most noticeable features inside The Barker House is a beautiful, large stone fireplace. Not only does it look good, but it kept us all warm on this cold and rainy New England day! Amy and Ellie then retired back up to their room to relax for a bit before the reception started.
The Reception: Let’s Party!
This was a fantastic, high-energy reception. Lots of love, dancing, and people having the time of their lives! Amy and Ellie told me that they were not good dancers… this turned out to be completely untrue. They were amazing!
