Rhode Island and Massachusetts have been my life. Born in RI and currently living just outside of Providence, I know this area well. A Decade of Experience
I have been photographing weddings for over a decade now. It is not an easy thing to do. You want someone who not only has the right cameras and the right lenses, but also has the knowledge and skill to use them appropriately. I’m comfortable with both natural light and flash-lit photography.

I love candid photography. I prefer a photo-journalistic approach to weddings. That’s truly where you capture people and memories as they happen. Of course, almost everyone wants the traditional posed formals and I am happy to do them. I excel at photographing the unexpected and all the little things that happen throughout the day.

Wedding Photography Packages
In-Person Consultation
I will be available to meet with you to discuss all of the details of your wedding (even before you book me) and will meet as-needed to finalize the details of your wedding day.
Of course, if you want to meet virtually, we can do that as well.
Engagement Photos
Many of my packages include an engagement session at a location of your choice. This is a great way to get to know each other before your wedding, as well as the perfect opportunity to get some awesome photos of you as a couple!
Me. You get Me.
You may be shocked to know that some wedding photographers simply outsource their photography sessions. I do not do this.
You meet with me. You talk with me. We plan this together. On your wedding day, I will be the person who is there and photographing you.
My Wedding Photography Style
Wedding photography is all about capturing the intimacy, emotion, and beauty of your wedding ceremony. It’s a very personal and intimate event, and as your photographer, my intention is to capture the essence of your unique love story in a way that feels authentic and true to your personalities.
I use a candid, documentary style which captures natural, unposed moments and emotions using natural lighting and minimal editing to create a timeless and authentic feel.

Wedding Photography
When you want to book for me a wedding, I try to make it a really easy process. Here is what the process looks like…

Message me
As much as I would like to be able to read minds, I just haven’t developed that superpower (yet).
Send me a message to let me know your date, so I can confirm that your wedding date is available.
02.
Consult
We will arrange time for a phone call (or sometimes a virtual meeting or in-person). This usually takes 45 minutes to an hour. I’ll go over all of your wedding day details and make sure that we are a good fit. You’ll also get lots of super-useful wedding tips!
03.
Contract & Payment
Everything is digital. Once you have read the contract, signing is as easy as clicking a button. Once the retainer is paid and the contract is signed, you are officially a Chris James wedding couple!
04.
Get Married!
This part is on you, but I’ll be there to make sure that every moment is captured in a set of beautiful wedding photographs that you will treasure forever!
Wedding Coverage
Some weddings are short and sweet. Others are all-day events. There truly is no “one-size-fits-all” here. I’ve created a number of packages that cover the most common wedding day coverage scenarios. The most affordable package includes 4 hours of wedding day coverage. The higher packages include additional hours, locations, etc.
If you don’t feel that any of my packages meet your needs (for example, you need hourly coverage for a small ceremony only) send a message and let me know!

Your RI AND MA Wedding Photographer
As I had mentioned earlier, I am a Rhode Island Wedding Photographer, born in Woonsocket and living just outside of Providence. I grew up here. Despite being a Rhode Islander, I am also a Massachusetts Wedding Photographer and would be happy to travel into MA to photograph your wedding. I’ve photographed weddings in Boston, way out west in Brimfield, and all the way to the tip of Cape Cod in Truro and Provincetown.
For those of you in Connecticut, New Hampshire, and beyond, I do photograph weddings in these locations, but it really depends on the specific circumstances.
